Shawn E. Tuma is a trial attorney with extensive state and federal court experience representing clients in a wide variety of commercial disputes involving complex legal issues such as fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, business disparagement, tortious interference, breach of contract, unfair competition, securities fraud, non-competition, misappropriation and theft of trade secrets, and professional liability claims involving consultants, accountants, and officers and directors. Mr. Tuma's intensity and focus enable him to effectively achieve his clients' litigation and business objectives as defined by the unique needs of each client and case.
In addition to his commercial litigation practice, Mr. Tuma has written and lectured on a variety of legal topics. His topics have included the creation and enforceability of electronic contracts and signatures, employee Internet use policies for businesses and other organizations, and methods for using the Internet and other technology for increasing the profitability of existing businesses. Mr. Tuma's publications have been cited by several courts (including the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit), professional practice guides, and text books:

Mr. Tuma is admitted to practice in the State of Texas, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Mr. Tuma earned his Juris Doctrate in 1999 from Regent University School of Law where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, and was selected by the Administration and Faculty as the Outstanding Graduate in the School of Law for 1999. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1993 from Northwestern State University with honors. Prior to joining SBF, Mr. Tuma spent much of his career as a litigation attorney in the Dallas office of Winstead.
